App Install Interstitials Can Now Affect Mobile-Friendly Sites – Here’s Why

App install banners are common to mobile sites that wants to promote their application. Today’s mobile friendly topic is about sites displaying app banners that block the content which affects user experience.

With the recent mobile update, it’s now easier for Google to discover apps and mobile friendly pages to showcase in their search results.
However, some mobile sites have app install interstitial that covers the whole content when viewing on mobile devices which greatly affects user experience.
Google updated their “Mobile-Friendly Test” tool to capture sites that have this kind of issue. Site owners can also check “Mobile Usability Report” to look for pages in their site having the same problem
Mobile browsers like Safari and Chrome provides a more user-friendly way of showing app install banners so users can still browse through the content without the banners blocking the view.
